Obstacle Coarse training(OCT) is a modern exercise program that draws inspiration from the rigorous physical training regimen of the ancient Spartans. The goal of OCT is to develop overall physical fitness, strength, and endurance, while also building mental toughness and resilience.
OCT typically includes a combination of bodyweight exercises, cardiovascular workouts, and functional training movements. It emphasizes full-body workouts that mimic the physical demands of combat and everyday life, such as running, jumping, climbing, and carrying heavy objects.
Some common exercises in OCT include:
- Burpees
- Pull-ups
- Push-ups
- Squats
- Lunges
- Planks
- Running
- Hill sprints
- Carrying sandbags or other weighted objects
OCT often takes place outdoors, and may incorporate natural obstacles such as hills, rocks, and trees. It is designed to challenge participants both physically and mentally, pushing them to their limits and helping them develop resilience and mental toughness.
